Skillset School2Trade – School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) are more than just part-time jobs, they’re a great way to set young people up for a career whilst they complete their HSC.
School-based apprenticeships are available to Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students across Central West and Far West Orana regions of NSW. They allow students to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship whilst at high school. A School-based apprenticeship combines paid work, training and school; as well as gaining credit towards their HSC.School-based Apprenticeships on offer
The Skillset School2Trade Model
Skillset makes the School-based apprenticeship model effective and efficient for your business by being the key point of communication throughout the program.
There are benefits of engaging a Group Training Organisation (GTO) to employ a School-based Apprentice. Did you know, GTOs like Skillset have up to 20% higher completion rates of apprentices and trainees than business who employ direct.
Why should your company host an SBAT?
“I decided to complete a School-based traineeship as I thought it was a good opportunity to be able to stay at school and be able to work. I have the best of both worlds.”

“Through my School-based traineeship I am gaining experience in data-based work, business administration and working in a team environment. It is nice earning my own money and have the opportunity to continue with my school studies”
– Josh Foxall, Skillset School2Trade School-based Trainee at Orange City Council completing a Certificate III in Business Administration
“I am enjoying being able to learn and problem solve with experienced people who are willing to listen to my opinion in relation to the work-based material that we deal with daily. I am gaining experience in being able to diagnose and fix IT issues for council employees. I really am contributing to the organisation.”
