Our story.
Skillset was established in 1982 as the region’s first Group Training Organisation with the specific aim of helping local communities and businesses meet their skills needs in a cost-effective way. After more than 40 years of continuous operation, Skillset has grown into a leading regional organisation with a focus on supporting people in our communities through learning, skills acquisition and employment.

Skillset is committed to growing workplace skills, employment, education and the well-being of individuals to ensure sustainable regional communities into the future.
Skillset Senior Leadership Team

Throughout Narelle’s career, she has been drawn to working for community-based organisations in Western NSW dedicated to improving the lives of local people, including people with disabilities and young people who have experienced trauma, mental health and social and vocational issues. Her strong leadership and focus on establishing innovative partnerships to support local individuals and businesses aligns seamlessly with Skillset’s commitment to creating life-changing opportunities and making a positive impact in regional communities.

Ben has worked with Skillset since 2011. Originally from a Civil Construction background as a plant operator, Ben has worked across multiple departments in Skillset to support young people, apprentices/trainees and businesses in the region, originally in Orange, and then across Skillset’s regional footprint. Ben is passionate about supporting local people, especially young people and currently works to support the Group Training, Career Development and Workforce Teams of Skillset as they meet the workforce and skills development needs of the community.

Astrid is a dedicated and accomplished Human Resource Manager with a proven track record of success in managing HR operations, talent acquisition, employee development and compliance. Astrid’s commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, improving employee engagement and enhancing overall organisational performance has consistently yielding exceptional results. With over 20 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, she brings a comprehensive understanding of the local employment landscape, labour laws, and best practices to drive organisational growth and success.

Alex joined the Skillset leadership team with over 20 years’ experience driving strategic growth, innovation, and customer-focused solutions across both corporate and not-for-profit sectors. With a strong background in product development, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional team leadership, Alex brings a collaborative and outcomes-driven approach to every initiative. At Skillset, she brings great focus to Business Services, with responsibility for Corporate Governance, Corporate Services, Operations Support and Marketing. Passionate about community impact and continuous improvement, Alex is committed to leveraging her expertise to support meaningful change and local development.

Emily is a Chartered Accountant with over a decade of experience in Accounting, Advisory and tax for a variety of small to medium businesses specializing in trades. A dedicated and motivated professional, Emily brings a wealth of knowledge in strategic analysis, payroll and compliance. Emily is instrumental in guiding our financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting. Her dedication to transparency, ethical financial practices, and strategic resource allocation aligns perfectly with Skillset’s values and goals.
