Dubbo City Toyota has led a number of local businesses and their staff who have been recognised through awards for excellence, announced by leading employment and skills development organisation, Skillset.

Dubbo City Toyota was this week announced the inaugural recipient of the Host of the Month Award from some 100 businesses across the western region and was commended for its exceptional support for School Based Traineeships, dedication to breaking gender barriers in male-dominated industries, and ongoing collaboration with Dubbo High Schools in supporting student work experience.

“We are honoured to receive the Skillset Host of the Month award,” said Paul Cairncross, Service Manager at Dubbo City Toyota. “The current platform seems to be providing some very good results and great talent for our workforce needs and we look forward to continuing this over the coming years.”

Skillset Senior Workforce Consultant, Rodney Ney believes Dubbo City Toyota’s award is thoroughly deserved.

“Dubbo City Toyota’s commitment to professional development, workplace culture, and safety, as evidenced by a state-of-the-art workshop from which apprentices can hone their skills, showcases their dedication to excellence in all aspects of hosting apprentices and trainees,” said Rodney.

Kristen Orr, a Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration apprentice at Western NSW Local Health District, was also recognised for her skills and commitment, receiving the Skillset Apprentice of the Month Award. A fully qualified electrician, Kristen has shown remarkable commitment to her apprenticeship and expanded her skills by earning qualifications as a midwife.

“Kristen’s active engagement with contractors and suppliers, along with her impressive Recognition of Prior Learning for TAFE studies, makes her a deserving recipient of the Apprentice of the Month award,” said Rodney.

The final local award went to Breanna Pilon, who is completing a Certificate III Early Childhood Traineeship at Dubbo Regional Council – Rainbow Cottage Childcare Centre, and was awarded Trainee of the Month award for her exceptional performance, working seamlessly across multiple rooms and exhibiting adaptability while collaborating effectively with different leaders.

Rodney Ney commended Breanna’s proactive initiatives and strong relationships with children and parents, which he believes made her a standout Trainee of the Month.

“We would like to congratulate all the local winners and extend our gratitude to the dedicated host employers and mentors contributing to the growth and success of apprentices and trainees in the region,” said Rodney.

The monthly Skillset awards spotlight exceptional achievements, honouring the dedication and excellence of high-performing individuals across Western NSW and showcasing the talent and commitment within the regional workforce.
