Through career planning advice and tailored support, Skillset Youth Connect helped Callum identify education and employment pathways that align with his interests in 3D modelling, game design, and digital content creation. With our guidance, Callum enrolled in a Certificate III in Information, Digital Media & Technology at TAFE NSW to begin his career journey.

To broaden his understanding of the industry, Skillset Youth Connect encouraged Callum to attend an open day at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) in Sydney. The experience gave him valuable insights into game development, animation, and visual effects. Callum shared his thoughts on the day:

“The AIE Open Day was a really nice experience and quite informative. The workshops provided a hands-on introduction to industry tools like Maya and Unity, and I learned more about programming in one hour than in all my previous classes combined. I also discovered how developers use tools like Trello to manage projects and keep workflows organised. The VFX workshop was fascinating, showing us how compositing works and how CGI integrates with real footage. The Game Design session was my favourite, seeing how a game is built from the ground up was incredible.”

Callum left the open day feeling inspired and motivated to pursue his dream career. He was impressed by the quality of student projects and the industry experience of AIE’s teachers, saying:

“The level of skill and detail in the student work was phenomenal. It shows the quality of training and the opportunities available in this field. Attending a course at AIE is definitely something I’d like to do in the future.”
