In the case where suspected data breaches occur that appropriate action and notification procedures are followed in compliance with relevant legislation. \u2028We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to carry out functions or activities as a Group Training \u2028Organisation, Recruitment & Work Placement provider, Workforce Australia Local Jobs provider, career \u2028development provider, Skillset Senior College, and Land Works services provider.<\/p>\n
These functions and activities may include:<\/p>\n

- work placement operations or recruitment functions;<\/li>\n
- client and business relationship management;<\/li>\n
- marketing or communications services;<\/li>\n
- to confirm identity and authority to provide references;<\/li>\n
- statistical purposes and statutory compliance requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This policy applies to all internal records, service user records and unpublished materials of Skillset. It includes both hard copy and electronic data, containing personal information about individuals, and to interviews or discussions of a sensitive personal nature. Collection of Personal Information At all times Skillset will only collect the information needed for the particular function, or an activity being conducted. The main conduit through which personal information is collected is directly from the person themselves. For example, Skillset may collect personal information such as name, contact details, current employment details, education history, work history, resume, reference details and referee feedback when:<\/p>\n

Sensitive information may be collected from time to time. This may include information about health, race or ethnic origin, association memberships, or criminal history information.<\/p>\n
Indirect Collection<\/h5>\n
Information from third parties and publicly available sources may be collected when necessary for a specific purpose such as checking information provided to Skillset when an individual has consented or would reasonably expect us to collect this personal information in this way. Collecting Through Our Websites<\/h5>\n
Where Skillset’s websites allow an individual to make comments or give feedback, we will collect email addresses and sometimes other contact details. We may use these contact details to respond to feedback and \/ or provide information about our services, upcoming courses, programs and job vacancies. We may also store this personal information on servers located in Australia and remotely on APP compliant cloud storage.<\/p>\n
Analytic, Session and Cookie Tools<\/h5>\n
Skillset uses a range of tools provided by third parties, including Google to collect or view website traffic information. These sites have their own privacy policies. We use the information to maintain, secure and improve our websites. In relation to Google Analytics, individuals can ‘opt out’ of the collection of this information using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.<\/p>\n
Social Networking Services<\/h5>\n
Social networking services such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube are utilised by Skillset to communicate with the public. Personal information may be collected through these, and social networking servicesmay also handle personal information for their own purposes. These sites have their own privacy policies.<\/p>\n
Email lists<\/h5>\n
Email addresses (and other contact details) may be collected when individuals subscribe to Skillset’s email lists. We only use this information for the purpose of communicating with individuals and to administer the lists.<\/p>\n
How Personal Information is Held<\/h5>\n
Personal information is kept through a combination of secure computer storage facilities and other records. Skillset takes such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to protect the personal information from misuse,\u00a0interference and loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.<\/p>\n
Records may be maintained for a significant period of time, as outlined in the Skillset Records Retention and Protection Policy (SLOPOL059). However, when the information is no longer needed, we will remove any details that will identify an individual or we will securely destroy the records, provided that it is lawful for us to do so.<\/p>\n
Data protection measures are never completely secure and, despite the measures Skillset has in place, we cannot\u00a0guarantee the complete security of personal information. Individuals must take care to protect their personal\u00a0information (for example, by protecting any usernames and passwords). Skillset must be notified of any possible\u00a0security breaches. In situations where there is a Notifiable Data Breach, Skillset must notify affected individuals and\u00a0the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, in line with the Privacy Amendment (Notifiable Data\u00a0Breaches) Act 2017.<\/p>\n
Disclosure<\/h5>\n
We may disclose your personal information for any of the purposes for which it is held or for a lawfully related\u00a0purpose. Disclosure will usually be:<\/p>\n

Skillset outsources a number of services to Contracted Service Providers (CSP) from time to time. Our CSP may see\u00a0some of your personal information. Skillset CSP’s would include:<\/p>\n

- I.T. contractors and database designers and internet service suppliers;<\/li>\n
- Legal and other professional advisors;<\/li>\n
- Background checking and screening agents;<\/li>\n
- Related entities and related bodies corporate (as those terms are defined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth);\u00a0<\/li>\n
- and Government agencies and departments when we are contractually or legally required to do so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
We take reasonable steps to ensure that terms of service with our CSPs recognise that we are bound by obligations\u00a0to protect the privacy of personal information and that they will not do anything that would cause us to breach\u00a0those obligations.<\/p>\n
Disclosure of personal information overseas<\/h5>\n
Skillset will not generally send personal information out of Australia. Where this is required by an individual, this\u00a0will only occur with their consent. Where information is provided to these entities outside of Australia, we will no\u00a0longer be required to take reasonable steps to ensure the overseas recipient’s compliance with the Australian\u00a0privacy law in relation to an individual’s personal information and we will not be liable to for any breach of the\u00a0Australian privacy law by these overseas recipients.<\/p>\n
Web traffic information is disclosed to Google Analytics when you visit our websites. Google stores information\u00a0across multiple countries. For further information see Google Data Centres and Google Locations.<\/p>\n
When communication by Skillset is conducted through social network services, the social network provider and its partners may collect and hold personal information overseas. These sites have their own privacy policies.<\/p>\n
Access and Accuracy of Information<\/h5>\n
Should an individual wish to access their personal information, they are able to make enquiries, requests to access\u00a0\/ delete or correct information. Skillset may seek to confirm the accuracy of information from time to time.\u00a0Individuals are required to comply with these requests.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Complaints<\/h5>\n
We aim to acknowledge receipt of all complaints and aim to resolve all complaints within a timely manner, in\u00a0
