The Flannery Centre - Expression of Interest

The Flannery Centre Project is an initiative of the Australian Government being part of the Education Investment Fund. The National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry, in accordance with the Australian Government Implementation Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry, August 2009, applies to this project. This document can be viewed at the Australian Government website at www.deewr.gov.au/building or www.workplace.gov.au/building

The Flannery Centre is planned to be a carbon efficient skills training centre. It is intending to be submitted for a Green Star rating Equivalent to Australia's best practice development. The design is expected to optimise passive solar design principles and efficient energy and water use. The Flannery Centre is to be designed to utilise materials that have low environmental impact, low embodied energy and will include recycled or local materials where possible. The remainder of the site is intended for future development illustrating sustainable landscaping: appropriate plant selection, biodiversity strategies, and best practice erosion and sediment control.
